2nd Class Ft. Mac camp jobs info

I'm curious to here people's impressions about working in camp as well as what their yearly and hourly compensation. Any type of bonuses or other benefits would also be appreciated. The shift rotations and accommodations would be nice info also.

Thanks

The whole camp thing really depends on what type of person you are. If you like to go and do stuff around town after a work day then you will hate it. If you like to veg-out and watch TV or study, you will like it. It is something you need to experience for yourself to get a good feel for what it is like. Every camp is a little different but the ones we have come with your own dedicated room (Only you and the cleaning staff have a key and you leave your stuff there when you go on days off) and you get your own phone, fridge TV, internet and bathroom/shower. It isn't very big but a descent place to hang your hat from what I have heard.

As far as pay goes you will not be disappointed. With a 2nd Class ticket, depending of course on your experience level, you should easily gross in the $200k (+/-$25k) region and that is will little to no OT. You may also get some sort of share/option plan as they are very common in the Oilsands. I personally consider this gravy and don't rely on it for compensation, but it definitely makes a difference if the company does well. I don't think there is anywhere industry wide that has a better total renumeration package out there. Just my $0.02.

Awesome, but what company do you work for?

MEG and STAT Oil are the best camps from what I've heard and seen. I have $ and details I can post later. I haven't been to every camp but STAT looks great! 2nd class is averaging $250,000/yr.

How's the Internet speed in camps?

I believe these were old numbers from MEG
$49.37/hr
+12% camp uplift
+15% isolation pay
$2.36/hr nightshift premium
$8500/yr ticket bonus
$2000/yr incidental bonus (paid in quarterly instalments)
5% short term incentive bonus
5% long term incentive bonus (not sure how this one works)
Contribute up to 9% of base pay to retirement plan and company matches your 9%
Savings plan (don't remember the details but 5% matching rings a bell)
Company share purchase where they match 100% if held for 2 years

The calculations work out to be $74.19/hr including all the bonuses camp pay isolation pay.
The pension works out to be base rate $102689.60 @ 9% employee = $9242.06 + 9% employer = $9242.06 = $18484.13/year pension
+ a savings plan + a share purchase plan

I think the camp uplift is up to 18% now
a travel allowance of $5200/yr
night shift up to $2.50
etc, etc, etc
