Devon vs. Meg Energy vs. Statoil vs. Firebag vs. Cenovus

Which is best to work for and why?

I heard not such nice things about Devon

75jason would you mind being a little more specific?

I know people who work at Firebag, MEG and Statoil. All seem to like where they are but MEG and Statoil seem to be leaders in the SAGD sector. Highest pay and best camps.

I heard it is damn near impossible to get on with Meg. Is that true?

Thats what i hear too

Does anyone have an opinion about ConocoPhillips as a company or their camp? They are buliding a huge facility right now and I was wondering if they are a decent future prospect.

I'm a hiring manager for another company and get a lot of applicants from ConocoPhilips. MEG tends to do more "name" hiring (hiring buddies) and only posts when that's done. Census has a nice camp but the plants are getting a little "big for their britches" and very cliquey.

I just finished contracting for Conoco, short answer stay away from them. I left after 7 yrs of service and am happier now ..met ALOT of great ppl there though. I also hear Pengrowth will be looking for SAGD operators soon in Lindberg..if that helps

Thanks, for the info guy's. I've got my second but have been out of the power engineering scene for a while. I've been contemplating returning but only if i can work for a decent company. I've Googled just about everything I can imagine to try and find information on who the good guys are and who the bad guys are. So far from what I've read it seems like MEG is one of the best and JACOS is one of the worst. I hate to judge a company by someones disgruntled facebook rant though....too bad that www.powerengineersforum.com got shutdown, it looked like they where on to something good there.
